NOooooooo... so unlucky

Someone really doesn't want me to be a writer.
Back when I was writing that snarry fic, my personal computer went down taking my polished first chapter with it. Since it was my first time writing I was devastated. Eventually my mother let me use her work computer at night, until she quit her job. For some reason she wasn't able to extract the files before turning it in. Though I was willing, the fic resisted all attempts at being revived a second time.
After these incidents I promised myself I'd be more cautious: do most of it in pen, keep everything on a flash drive, and upload it to the net. I just was going to transfer my first chapter from my personal computer, but lo and behold the damn computer won't start! Just sldghiosdhg~ Argh! Why, WHY?!
It's not a complete loss content-wise, but I've learned how important momentum is and that's quite a few hours down the drain if I can't get this thing fixed. Why did it have to shut down when I went to back it up? That's just cruel. I didn't even do anything! Usually when the computer breaks I'm reasonably certain I had it coming, but not this time! I have the worst luck.

So I got my computer today (quick right?), there have been a few problems but 9 times out of 10 it was my own fault. I spent 3 hours trying to turn on the internet connection, when it occurred to me that I never reset the connection to the new IP address. I mean God! 3 HOURS and all I had to do was unplug a cable and plug it back in again! AND I had the speakers plugged into the wrong port, so I spent another hour checking all the drivers before once again- unplug/replug was the answer. I swear I'm not usually so retarded, today has just not been my day.

In related news, I totally forgot that the disk I have is for a really old version of Photoshop. I installed it and was like "...wut iz dis shit?" I played around with it a bit while fixing the lighting on a Voldy/Harry pic (Btw, was that pic really as dark as it seemed? I could hardly see it.) but I haven't decided if I'm going to keep it or find a newer version.

Also, I was pretty surprised to see that I now have Firefox. I know jack about it, so if there's anything I should know, please share! Right now, I'd like to know a bit more about the bookmarks (and the tagging system), but anything would be welcome. Does anyone know if/how I can import my bookmarks from IE to Foxfire? I've got tons of them and would rather not do it manually.

Possible Hiatus

We, in the house of Bloopers, have talked long and hard about switching internet providers. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes us so long to decide on anything that it could be months between the decision to shut down our current connection, and the decision on which provider we'll get to replace it. Thus, I am posting about a possible hiatus in the near future. But ne'er fear! I've just ordered that new computer mentioned in the last post! Whoo, I'm really looking forward to being able to run my art programs again! I've had a scene for my Wonderland series I've been wanting to draw for a while, but I can't do those sort of scenes without making like 10 drafts of everything, which is a real pain if you only have a pencil and paper to work with. I can't wait til it gets here! I think it comes with a wireless card so we'll see how that works out. The last time I dealt with wireless it was pretty unreliable, but it should be better than nothing right?

In other news- I am actually aware that it is a holiday today. Last year I was like, "...is someone setting off fireworks???" Actually, I'm only aware that it's a holiday because I tried to go to the bookstore and it was closed, but it still counts right? Lol, Happy New Year Everybody!

Once again, another disappointing holiday.

Ever since I've moved to Florida, celebrations have been pretty drab. (On Halloween I have been asked if I've just come from performing in a play- people are that clueless here.) If it were up to me I'd completely skip Thanksgiving. A celebration of America's tendency to over-eat just don't impress me much. This year I tried to make it into somewhat of a bake off; I'm a pretty lazy cook, so there are a lot of things I've wanted to try but never bothered with before.
This morning, my mother and I were both woken up pretty early, so we decided to take a nap before cooking. This is all fine, except that the smell of twice-baked potatoes pulled me from my room to discover that she'd done all the baking while I was asleep! Then because she's so tired, she leaves me to do all the stove-top cooking while she rests. I mean WTF, did she not get it at all? I for one do not think just eating makes something a celebration, and would have liked to actually spend time with her in the kitchen. Anyway, since she cooked half of our food so early, it was cold and dried out by the time the rest of it was ready to be eaten. Not to mention that she made two pies for just the two of us (after I asked her repeatedly not to) and then didn't take a bite of either. And that's not even all of it: When I told her I was going to go get dressed and came out in my best cloths, she somehow didn't get the hint that I didn't want to celebrate in our pajamas. Finally, after 20 mins of eating in front of the TV she goes off to take her nap. Someone please tell me I'm not overreacting when I say how disappointing this day has been?

As a side note: we've been buying our Christmas presents a little earlier this year and it is driving me mad. They're just sitting in the corner unwrapped and I'm supposed to ignore them?! Like, we got these little key-chains for stocking stuffers that you can play Mario and Donkey Kong on, and I want to play so bad! Gimme!
