I'm baaaack~ ...and writing fic?!
Hey! I'm back-ish.
The move went pretty easy, and I already feel like its home! A few note-worthy events happened since I last posted (Like my vibrator going off when I was loading it into the moving van lol, TMI). I kept wanting to write you guys updates, but only recently has my wireless been working with any reliability. I thought after the move we'd have all this money to get a good connection and other neat stuff, but there have been problems with my mother's disability payments so we're not going to be using up any cash on frivolous things until that gets worked out. *sigh* That's what I get for thinking I could relax about money for a while.

Besides that, I'd like to say that I've been keeping a bit of a secret for a while, but I think it's past time you guys knew that I've decided to do some writing. Yes, I too distinctly remember me saying that it's creepy when someone can both draw and write with any sort of talent, but well... Nya! I don't care. Unfortunately for most of you on my flist, the first fic I started awhile back didn't work out too well- apparently these things need room to breathe and I killed it with my strangle-hold. I say too bad because I think a lot of you would have liked that one; it was a dark!Snarry based off Phantom of the Opera. Anyway I suppose I put too much pressure on myself for a first time fic, but this time I'm not trying to win any awards. I usually don't like to say things unless I'm going to follow through, so I'm telling you this now because I'm in the process of writing a Transformers/HP crossover, and I'm pretty sure this one is going to see the light of day. I'd like to have the prologue and first chapter up before the Transformers sequel comes out in June, but I'm not sure if that's too optimistic. Besides hoping some of you will check it out if I do end up posting this thing, this is also a notice that my art production might drop in favor of writing for a while-- this is probably why there aren't many people who do both art and fic, right?

So you writers out there got any tips for a first timer? Any idea where to get a beta for a crossover? How goes betaing typically work anyway; am I going to need a reliable internet connection? Also any links to writer's resources would be nice. In particular, I'm having trouble with an action scene.

In other news, I think learning about the mechanics of writing has ruined quite a few fics for me. There is just something about being able to articulate why something is crap that makes that opinion so much more concrete in my mind. It's like, if I can't say what's wrong with it then there might not actually be anything wrong with it; I'm just being harsh. Now, it's like every negative thought I've had about backwater ffnet crap has been validated and I can't ignore it anymore. I really hope I'm not about to become a fic snob or a grammar nazi, that would be no fun at all.
